The Real Reason You're Stuck at $50k/Month

I keep seeing the same pattern in brands stuck between $50k and $100k per month in revenue. The founder is sharp. The product works. Customers like it.

But nothing is growing.

When I dig in, the problem is almost never what they expect.

The bottleneck is focus.

Their roadmap has 14 items on it. UGC campaigns. A new quiz funnel. An affiliate program. Influencer outreach. A subscription model. A lead magnet. Better email flows. A landing page redesign. TikTok organic. A wholesale push.

Every single one of those is a good idea. Every single one is worth doing eventually.

But they're all getting 20% effort and producing nothing. The founder spends Monday on the quiz funnel, Tuesday on influencer outreach, and by Wednesday they're troubleshooting a Klaviyo flow. No single project reaches completion or gets tested for long enough to know if it actually works.

This is the trap. Having too many good ideas feels productive. You're always working. You're always "making progress." But the business is standing still because no single initiative is getting enough sustained effort to actually move a number.

The Fix

Pick one project. One. The single initiative most likely to move revenue in the next 90 days.

Everything else goes on a "Not Now" list. This is different from a "Maybe Later" list or a backlog. It's a deliberate commitment to ignore those ideas for a defined period. The language matters because it gives you permission to say no without feeling guilty about it.

How to pick the one project:

For each item on your roadmap, score it on two criteria.

Pick the item with the highest impact that can produce a measurable result within 30 days. That's your one thing for the next month.

Everything else waits. No exceptions. No "quick side projects." No "I'll just spend an hour on this." One thing, full effort, for 30 days.

At the end of the month, evaluate the result, then pick the next one.

Why This Actually Works

One brand I work with was stuck at $60k/month for over a year. The founder had a Notion board with 23 growth initiatives. He was "working on" about 8 of them at any given time. Revenue was completely flat.

We sat down and scored every initiative on impact and speed. The winner: fixing his post-purchase email flows. Boring. Unsexy. But the data showed that his repeat purchase rate was 11% when comparable brands in his category were doing 25%+.

He spent one month doing nothing but email. Built a welcome series, a replenishment reminder, and a win-back flow. At the end of the month, repeat revenue was up 40%. That gave him enough margin to spend more on acquisition, which he'd been avoiding because the unit economics didn't work.

One month. One initiative. Full effort. That moved the needle more than a year of scattered 20% effort across 8 projects.

This is how brands break through $100k. By doing one thing long enough and deeply enough that it actually compounds. The hardest part is ignoring all the other good ideas while you do it.
